Despite the pessimism, gloom, or optimism of some regarding the state of the world and life, and the comparison of eras with each other regarding the beauty or ugliness of the world, or the feeling of happiness, etc., it must be said that the evaluation of all of that differs from one region to another, and the standards also differ, Some see happiness in achieving material standards, and others see happiness as merely a qualitative, tasteful feeling without objective standards. That is, positive graphs cannot express happiness in all cases.
It is very difficult to study the situation of each individual person, but it is possible to think about some details or aspects specific to some regions and some peoples, such as the peoples of the Middle East and the relationship of these peoples with violence, which, according to our impression, has reached the point of addiction to it, and then trying to create it again when the violence begins to shrink, contract and fade away, or when the observer does not find reasons for some people to feel happy or unhappy.
We talked about impressions and not about statistical indicators, International institutions such as the United Nations do not rely on impressions, so they set standards to define happiness and unhappiness, Through these standards, countries and societies were classified as happy, less happy, or unhappy, Our impression that the Afghan people are the unhappiest in the world is consistent with what the United Nations claims, and our positive impression of the happiness of the Scandinavian peoples is consistent with the United Nations’ statistical lines, which were drawn by statistics and extensive scientific studies.
Our impression of the Arab peoples is pessimistic regarding happiness, and our pessimistic impression is based on many features or characteristics, especially what we call the addiction to violence and the reliance on violence to solve problems for 1440 years, that is, since the region was transformed from a land of “intellect and reason” to a land of “sword and killing” at the hands of the conquests by the sword, The sword knows no reason, only killing, which was given an intellectual background called jihad and given a goal that was spoils, then the emphasis that the believing mujahid will reach paradise whether he kills or is killed, The believer who believes that his destiny will be eternity in paradise will neglect worldly life to the point of abolishing it, And what is the value of taking care of worldly life when it is fleeting and transient compared to the eternity of the wonderful life of paradise!
The shift from a land of intellect and reason to a land of the sword and killing was one of the most significant factors leading to the misery of the Arab people, The accusation of violence—that is, the tyranny and dominance of internal and external wars over the lives of Arabs—stems from the world’s marked shift towards greater peace, despite some ongoing conflicts, The Arab world, however, has not clearly experienced this transformation, The significance of violence, and consequently wars, lies in their impact on the political rights of citizens within these so-called states; their effect on the perpetuation of authoritarian and oppressive regimes; their impact on freedoms and democracy; and their effect on individual thought, behavior, and convictions, This has led to a continuous and pervasive crisis in international relations, transforming Arab groups into isolated enclaves on the international map and relatively rejected by the rest of the world, Even Israel, despite its precarious situation, has managed to establish deep relations with most countries, while the relations of Arab states with the world remain cautious and strained. Generally, Arabs cannot travel the world as freely as Israelis, In almost every instance, an Arab needs a visa, while an Israeli does not. The amount that the Arab needs, the reason for that disparity was the accusation of terrorism, which cannot be refuted, denied, or proven false, The world was warned about the Arabs, their violence, and their terrorism, and that is certainly not a delusion!!!
Since the accusation is relatively justified and not a delusion, we must ask where this bad reputation associated with violence and terrorism came from! Some say that the one responsible for this was the religious texts and practices carried out by religion and in its name, and the widespread presence of terrorist organizations with a religious intellectual background among believers compared to other societies, The population of Europe is almost double the population of the Arab regions, and the number of European countries is more than the number of Arab countries, but there is no presence in Europe of anything resembling ISIS, Hezbollah, Ansar Allah, the Popular Mobilization Forces, Al-Nusra, the Mujahideen, and dozens, even hundreds, of terrorist organizations that operate outside the declared laws. Some of these organizations have even taken the form of a state within a state, such as the Ansar Allah Houthi movement, Hezbollah, the Popular Mobilization Forces, or even ISIS, which controlled about ten years ago half of the area of Syria and a third of the area of Iraq.
Some do not adopt this view and claim that behind all these organizations are political motives, or that they are the product of a political reality, represented by the feeling of injustice of these groups, as everything that is happening has no relation to the texts and the military conquest heritage, which began 1440 years ago and continued throughout that period at the hands of the Quraysh and the Ottomans, until the matter reached the Supreme Leader in Iran and Naim Qassem in Lebanon, then to ISIS and the book “The Management of Savagery”, and we do not forget the theories of Hassan al-Banna’s Brotherhood and many others!
