The Syrian groups continue to deliver one surprise after another, each one worse than the last, The unleashing of barbarity—the killing, destruction, dragging, crucifixion, kidnapping, and looting—was a major shock that shattered much of the pretense of rationality surrounding these groups, The return of the “Safarbarlik” (forced conscription) mentality, where people were rounded up and thrown into the inferno of death, was a shameful, disgusting, and painful surprise, The rounding up of young men and their forced conscription into military service was an indirect admission that what they call a homeland is not worthy of service and sacrifice. If this so-called “homeland” were truly a homeland, there would be no need to send people to military service against their will, as we witnessed in the recruitment centers during Assad’s era, where young men were transported in chains to training centers, After a week of training, bullets were unleashed, killing everyone,e In truth, we have not seen any civilized manifestations from this people in recent years. A people who possessed an abundance of reasons to revolt… they revolt! Then they allow the criminality of armed factions to crush their revolution. In 2011, a people were schizophrenic and weaned on deception, and if that were not the case, this people would not have been graced with Al-Julani and Al-Asadi before him!
Most of what happens in this country is characterized by “violence,” whether it is the barbarity of wars, the forced recruitment of young people into war, or the flight of young people to neighboring countries to escape compulsory military service. Even corruption was violence, and Article 8 was violence. Selling women for dowry, then child marriage and polygamy are indescribable violence. As for the violence we actually want to talk about, it is the violence of practicing honor crimes , Isn’t it surprising when it is said that Syria leads all the countries of the world in committing honor crimes, which are considered permissible violence by the jurists?
Is there any human being who can consider killing a woman in the name of defending honor to be morally acceptable? And is there any human being who can consider a law that doesn’t punish the perpetrator of a crime to be a crime? Yes! All of this is Syrian, and the practice that Syria leads the world in is a Syrian practice. The law that encourages this practice is a Syrian law,Therefore, it can be said that Syrian society is a society of “surprise,” a society of camouflage and deception, a society where outward appearance contradicts inner feelings, a society where formal suits are worn over traditional robes… a society of fraud and pretense!
The practice of honor killings stems from a complete absence of “honor” in the perpetrator. It is violence fueled by a profound socio-psychological imbalance, a culture of discrimination that places women in a position inferior to men, a culture of superstition, blind traditions, and customs, and a base masculinity that has failed to transform into true manhood outside the home,Therefore, within the home, masculinity transforms into an animalistic masculinity, seeking revenge against women for learning, rising up, liberating themselves, and desiring independence. Women want to prove they are not objects to be bought, sold, or forced into marriage. No human being willingly accepts being objectified or treated as a commodity, The monstrous male sees in women’s progress his own regression and the erosion of his privileges regarding ownership and control over them, Her attempt to rebel against life in a cage is tantamount to a death sentence, which this male animal carries out in many cases, both publicly and in every other way, Pride and honor.
The most frequent background in honor crimes is a woman marrying a man whom the patriarchal family system does not want, or establishing a relationship with a man outside the scope of formal marriage. The killing in defense of honor is usually carried out by the victim’s relatives. The brother usually tops the list of defenders of the damaged honor. Imagine that equation: a brother slaughters his sister from vein to vein because she married someone whom the family does not want, The fact that she personally wants him is of no value because she is not a “person” but only an object.
The catastrophe is not limited to the physical act of slaughter, There are other forms of violence against women who object to being placed in a position inferior to men, There is social assassination, moral murder, and a long list of punishments that must be applied to dissenting and rebellious women. What concerns women in terms of being subjected to the violence of assassination and liquidation is one branch of the phenomenon of violence that besieges the Syrian people from at least six sides! Moral murder is like a slow death for the woman whom the ignorant society considers “crippled.” It besieges her, humiliates her, degrades her dignity, and ultimately drives her to end her life. It is suicide, as if we were in Kandahar!
