Superstition is a part of human culture, especially in the Middle East, This part grows or shrinks according to the level of science, knowledge, and enlightenment, The higher the level of ignorance, the higher the level of superstition by the same proportion, Superstition provides false answers to real questions, When the questions concern the foundations of existence, the answers of superstition become a threat to this existence,Questions about faith and the sacred concern the existence of some peoples, so the answer with superstition becomes a threat to the existence of these peoples, because superstition threatens the stability of consciousness and the relationship of consciousness with the environment, that is, with the human or earthly material surroundings.
Sacred faith is inherently blind, and conviction within the framework of sacred faith is merely formal, There is no true sacred faith, because faith has no relation to truth, and truth does not require faith but rather reason and conviction. Whoever claims to be convinced by religion, for example, is deceiving himself, Religion does not enter the mind through the gateway of conviction but rather through the gateway of enticement and intimidation, Enticement through the sustenance that the Creator or religion wants to provide daily to every creature, especially to those who carry a spear on their shoulder or a sword in their hand, and then through paradise and eternal life between the thighs of women or on the banks of rivers of wine and honey, Or intimidation through the fires of hell and burning people alive, as we have seen in many images of ISIS crematoria, including the burning of 19 Yazidis who were placed in an iron cage and then set on fire, as the ancients used to do, When Ali wanted to burn the extremists, he wrote a poem whose first verse said:
When I saw that the matter was reprehensible, I lit my fire and called Qanbar, Qanbar bin Dakan was his trusted servant and the manager of the burning in the pits that were designated for burning and which were mentioned in the rest of the verses of the poem,Qanbar is no different from the rest of the believing people and from the one who made the call,They all burned, they all slaughtered and they all took captives, and ISIS was nothing but a carbon copy of all of them.
The effect of superstition is linked to the factor of blind faith in its validity,Faith in the validity of superstition leads to its entrenchment and thus its ability to hybridize creation in a static way that provides some with a kind of internal stability, psychological submission, and tranquility, The infiltration of superstition into minds is characterized by cunning and superstition, which is presented in an easy and smooth way, which makes it easy to deceive oneself with a false conviction that is sometimes difficult to refute, Refuting it is accompanied by a disturbance in the stable psychological balance of those who believe in it,Refutation returns the one who is certain or the believer in the superstition to a state of anxiety, confusion, and searching for answers to difficult questions.
By these means, religion is armed, that is, by presenting a kind of false stability through superstition, which offers assumptions, explanations, expectations, and interpretations, Religion tries to prove their validity with the book of religion, that is, the validity of what was reported about the Creator is what the Creator said about Himself,The Creator created man from a handful of dust, and the proof of the validity and truth of that is His saying that He created man from a handful of dust, that is, a witness from among His own people testified!
Even more bizarre is his statement that he taught man what he did not know and how to write with a pen, How is that possible when the incubators of religion were completely illiterate, to the point that the Prophet Muhammad, the one who called for the faith, remained illiterate for 23 years and did not learn to read and write? Then how did he teach people what they did not know when there was not a scrap of paper on which a single letter was written in the Arabian Peninsula 1440 years ago!
The forces of good were assumed to be represented by the Creator and His messengers, while the forces of evil were invented to be represented by Satan, It was assumed that there was a constant conflict between good and evil, that is, between God and Satan,We do not know the reason for the continuation of this conflict for tens or hundreds of centuries between the representatives of good and the representatives of evil, and why did the Almighty not settle the matter with Satan? So we ask if the existence of Satan is a divine necessity?
Superstition is taught in schools, alongside science, which is also taught in schools despite the contradiction between science and superstition. Science explains natural phenomena related to matter and the factors that affect it or are affected by it, by using the method of hypotheses, then conducting experiments, and finally obtaining scientific proofs, laws, and theories. Unlike absolute metaphysical religious beliefs, science is never complete and remains relative and subject to modification and development whenever new hypotheses appear and those hypotheses turn into theories in the social, economic, psychological, medical, and other scientific fields, In contrast, religious beliefs are considered correct and valid for all times and places, and their validity includes even scientific aspects that have no relation whatsoever to religious beliefs, such as the earth being oval or flat, etc.
Science and its results are not based on conjecture, guesswork, or imagination, but rather on tangible evidence such as the laws of gravity and the laws of the transformation of matter into energy, Science has no relation to metaphysics and superstitious religious beliefs such as the Isra and Mi’raj (Night Journey and Ascension), belief in the existence of a creator of the universe, revelation, resurrection, heaven and hell, angels, devils, and demons,All of this remains without proof or explanation, and therefore it must be considered superstitions that cannot be trusted and can only be dealt with through blind “faith,” which allows for the belief that the earth is flat and stationary, the sun moves, mountains are tent pegs, and the sky is a ceiling from which stars are hung like lamps!
