Apology, between a crisis of ethics and the ethics of crisis

Ruba Mansour, George Banna:

محمد وجدي .. هوامش الغزو العربي الإسلامي لمصر – Islamic Bag

The German state never missed a  n opportunity to apologize for the Nazi crimes, then pledge not to repeat them and to try to do justice to those harmed by them, Germany acknowledged the crime and did not deceive, and it implemented what it pledged, Germany reconciled with itself and with humanity, and thus it turned into a respectable and advanced country and a role model for most of the countries of the world.

As for the Arab peoples, or the nation, which is said to be the best of nations, they find no reason to apologize for anything, Even the Ottomans, their brothers in faith, should not apologize for what they did to the Armenians and others,The Ottomans, too, are the best of nations! And the best of nations does not err, Their actions regarding the Armenians were an indisputable religious duty, Furthermore, everything said about the Armenian massacres, documented by the United Nations and the International Court of Justice, was, according to the Muslim Brotherhood, a figment of the imagination, intended to diminish the status of the true religion. What the Ottomans did was sometimes a religious duty, and at other times a lie and fabrication, Then they ask, “And what do you, hater of religion, want the Caliphate or Sultanate to do to those who conspired against it?” And what about the massacres of Native Americans in America? Then what about the Vietnam and Iraq wars? And what about the world wars? And what about the occupation of Algeria and the million martyrs…etc.? It’s as if criticizing the Armenian massacres condones the massacres of France or the tragedies of the Vietnam and Iraq wars…a logical fallacy, a red herring!

Since suicide operations began targeting innocent people in the name of religion, the Brotherhood rejected any connection between these operations and the Brotherhood and the like, considering them to be intelligence acts planted to distort religion, When it was proven that organizations such as Al-Qaeda, then ISIS and Al-Nusra were indeed behind such operations and officially adopted them, the Brotherhood’s political discourse shifted to apparent condemnation, which masked absolute support, and offered justifications based on logical fallacies, Thus, with every crime, the violence and crimes of others are invoked as an unsuccessful justification for the historical Arab Bedouin violence.

It has escaped the notice of these people that invoking the crimes of others as a justification for Arab Bedouin crimes is nothing but an indirect admission of the crimes of the Bedouin of the Peninsula. It is not logically or morally possible to justify one crime with another, Doesn’t that mean permitting crime and considering it a natural thing that human beings practice without moral deterrent or punishment?

These peoples have reached a high degree of hypocrisy and double standards, driving them to lament day and night over Palestine and to denounce Zionist hatred and cunning, while their memory is paralyzed regarding Umar ibn al-Khattab’s conquest of Jerusalem after a seven-month siege, After the siege came surrender and the infamous Pact of Umar concerning Jerusalem, At that time, there wasn’t a single Bedouin Arab in Jerusalem, And since history sometimes repeats itself, a few weeks ago, the new Syrian dictator, the terrorist al-Julani, visited the Patriarchate of the Eastern Christians, On this occasion, al-Julani presented the Patriarch with a gift: a Levantine copy of the Pact of Umar concerning Jerusalem, In short, al-Julani, with unparalleled audacity, wanted to remind the Patriarch that non-Muslims must pay the jizya (poll tax), The non-Muslims in the Emirate of Idlib paid the jizya willingly and submissively until they emigrated completely and returned a few weeks ago on Western orders warning al-Julani against further action, It is not only their responsibility but also their duty to rebuild their destroyed homes and restore their stolen property, which is considered war booty!

The charade of lamentation continues, Sometimes they weep over the loss of Andalusia, the land of their caliphate and kingdom, conquered and owned by the conqueror!!!!!, who conquered it with a clear victory to spread the true religion, And who has any objection to spreading the religion of God?? And whoever finds that colonialism is nothing but a heretic deserving of death. They even weep over the “loss” of India and Samarkand, because everything that was conquered is permissible and pure for them, while they consider Hulagu’s attack on Baghdad barbaric, and the Ottoman Caliphate’s occupation of parts of Europe civilized. They did not forget the colonies, but they only forgot to apologize!

In acknowledging the crimes of war and Nazism, Germany did not invoke the violence, wars, and crimes of others as a justification for Nazi crimes, Rather, it acknowledged what the German people, represented by their Nazi leadership, had committed against others and the necessity of doing justice to the victims, Thus, Germany did what reason and morality dictate, So how can Germany be emulated when these peoples lack reason or morality?

How can these people apologize, while they still chase after the concepts of Ibn Taymiyyah, who permitted the killing of a son by his polytheistic father, and Ibn Taymiyyah’s bullets still penetrate minds with his talk of the absolute right of believers, and their absolute right to exterminate the infidels, and then loyalty and disavowal in the era of homelands! How can these people apologize when their crimes against themselves are far greater than their crimes against others? They slaughter their own people with a cleaver and burn them alive in cages, they enslave Yazidi women and others to be sold at public auction, there is no need to mention more!

There is a “moral” crisis, a chronic moral crisis, not a passing one, Personal duplicity stems from a crisis in upbringing, principles, theories, and foundations that control, direct, and distort behavior,Ibn Taymiyyah’s culture is nothing but a factory for bad morals and duplicity that incites selfishness and excessive self-centeredness, which represents a denial of “the life of principle” that must be applied to everyone, In these lands, the ideal of relationships between people, both as individuals and groups, has collapsed, and the peoples, tribes, and clans have deviated from the correct path of history and human progress, Therefore, the fall into decadence was inevitable
