The nation is caught between politics and religion

Ruba Mansour, George Bana:

الطائفية في المجتمعات العربية .. وانشطار الدولة (*) - حزب الاتحاد الاشتراكي العربي الديمقراطي - سورية       Sectarianism was born with the birth of religion fourteen centuries ago, and it has undergone developments and fluctuations throughout that time,    Syria began its rapid slide towards sectarianism in this era, primarily with Nasser, at the end of the 1950s,The deepening and expansion of sectarianism coincided with the decline of political life based on political parties such as the Ba’ath, the Syrian Social Nationalist Party, the Communist Party, and others, This culminated in the Artillery School incident, followed by the Hama events, and before that, the Assad Corrective Movement, which represented the birth of the “Assadist” sect as a new sect that recruited its cadres from the Alawite sect, to a greater extent than the Sunni sect, Then, matters developed into the 2011 revolution, which was hijacked by the Muslim Brotherhood and armed factions, and the situation escalated into a civil war that did not end even after the Assad regime’s spontaneous collapse,After the collapse of the Assad regime, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham seized control and is carrying out what was expected of it, massacres and attempts to eliminate followers of relatively small sects such as the Alawites, the Druze, and others like the Kurds, The eliminations will not stop voluntarily, The outside world is watching and will hold them accountable, The outside world is capable of destroying or deporting the Al julanism , which has adopted the sectarian methodology and ideas of Ibn Taymiyyah, and which wants to eliminate the other small sects with different and well-known justifications for the thought and methodology of Ibn Taymiyyah.

Sectarian rule can be divided into two forms, There is the sectarian regime, which means the rule of a small sect, for example, after a military coup, The small size of the sect forces it in this case to recruit cadres from other sects as mercenaries with material privileges in the field of economic corruption, This was the case with the Assad sect, This formation is called a “sectarian regime ” ,While the state   ruled by a large sect is called “sectarian rule  ” ,as is the case in Syria now, Theoretically, the large sect does not need mercenaries from outside its ranks, because it has enough cadres  Despite this, the Al julanism relied heavily on foreign mercenaries such as Uyghurs and Chechens, which suggests its lack of trust in the Sunni majority, In this direction, events actually developed in Syria.

There are other important differences between a sectarian regime and the rule of a sect, A sectarian regime is easy to overthrow because of its small core and the shaky trust between that core and its mercenaries, In contrast, it is difficult to overthrow the rule of a large sect because of the strong internal trust among its members, The  Al julanism    deviates from this rule, For example,  when splits occur within the larger sect, it weakens and may even collapse, This was expected for the Al julani  Liberationand  deciding   Authority!!!!!!!. A short time ago, a group calling itself “Uli al-Ba’s” (Those of Might) was formed, led by an individual whose real name is unknown, but who goes by the alias “Rida Hussein.” “Uli al-Ba’s” held its first conference in a secret location inside Syria, attended by 200 people, and issued a founding statement announcing the names of groups that had joined them, such as the Coastal Shield group and others, “Uli al-Ba’s” declared that it would confront the  Al julanism politically and legally, knowing that these jihadist groups generally have no understanding of laws or politics, In other words, the confrontation between the Authority   of The liberation and deciding  of the Al julani  and the “Uli al-Ba’s” group will be exclusively and exclusively military in nature.

It is not important who rules, but how they rule, Groups of the  Al julani  type rule with weapons, oppression, and slaughter, and they adopt what is consistent with oppression and slaughter, This is how the Al julani Authority adopted the methodology of Ibn Taymiyyah, then printed his books and distributed those books, especially to Sharia institutes in Idlib and northern Syria,If the Authority is destined to remain alive for a longer period in power, Ibn Taymiyyah’s thought will enter into school curricula, which will entrench the growth of sectarian awareness and the atrophy of national awareness and national bond, and will entrench the exchange of distrust and fear among citizens, which will inevitably lead to discord, wars, and violence.

Religious sectarianism is primarily a disease of politics, According to Adonis, for a religious group to be called a “sect,” it must have a political objective, The existence of doctrinal, social, and political differences and distinctions in society does not necessarily lead to sectarian practices, The matter changes when socio-political differences are imbued with doctrinal values; then sectarianism awakens, as is the case with the Muslim Brotherhood, It is possible to imagine situations where doctrinal differences retain their spiritual weight without interfering with the social weights of politics, In fact, these weights are unrelated to each other, Political weight is social, while doctrinal weight is personal, and separating them is one of the easiest things because it goes back to the nature of each,Religious doctrine is a personal matter, while politics is a social matter, and separating personal doctrinalism from social politics is natural, What is unnatural is merging religion with the state, i.e., with politics, which leads to the corruption of both religion and the state, i.e., politics as well,, This is what is happening in most Middle Eastern entities: continuous and escalating corruption and decline!
