The international community tried to rehabilitate him by including him in international conferences, for example in Saudi Arabia, The international community did not deny or ignore what he did, but rather opened the way for him to transform into a human being somewhat, The process of humanizing him stopped with his downfall and the collapse of his system, perhaps because he did not respond to the humanization attempts in the required manner.
After him, al-Julani was brought in, and the same method was practiced with al-Julani, as he was allowed to be among people, welcomed him warmly, and promised to lift the sanctions on him on the condition that he adopt integrity and international law as a method of life in foreign and domestic politics, Al-Julani was more successful, as al-Julani was smarter than Assad in procrastination and evasion of the situation, who adopted “stubbornness” as an alternative to flexible politics, For al-Julani, the bazaar of threats and intimidation was still active, He was asked to implement a certain step, policy, or specific actions, and he began to procrastinate or act according to his personal understanding of what was asked of him or what was said to him, for example, in the Azerbaijan meetings, He thought, or pretended to think, that he had been given the green light to commit massacres, so he rushed to commit the Sweida massacre after the coastal massacre, The result was that he emerged from the Sweida massacre defeated, surrendered, and obedient to the utmost extent, The basic difference between Assad and al-Sharaa was the former’s stubbornness and the latter’s relative flexibility.
Perhaps it would be useful to shed some light on al-Julani and Assad, Al-Julani was most recently the leader of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (also known as al-Nusra), which was an offshoot of al-Qaeda and then a partner of al-Zawahiri and ISIS, Al-Julani has been classified as a terrorist for decades, He has killed, assassinated and blown up more than any other ISIS terrorist, He is not like Assad, who is not officially classified as a terrorist, especially by the United Nations, As for their actions, they were both from the same metal and the same mold, International dealings differed somewhat between Assad and al-Julani, but the basic principle was encouragement and ignoring the past for the sake of a better future!
Theoretically, it can be said that the international community has acted in contradiction to its known policies regarding terrorists, especially those whose names have been placed on terrorist lists, Now, a different approach is being tried than in the past, It is hoped that this approach will enable al-Jolani to develop from a terrorist to a statesman, that is, transforming an armed terrorist faction into a government entity; that is, rehabilitating him rather than deifying him! Overall, the intentions are good, but the results are still unknown.
There are several objections to the rehabilitation experience, as it does not take into account the issue of punishment, which is of great importance to the victims, The rehabilitation experience ignores human rights violations, torture and crimes committed in prisons, and war crimes committed by Assad and al-Julani in a way that is even more hideous than Assad’s practices. Perhaps this practice encourages terrorism, which is now being carried out without punishment. We do not think that allowing what al-Julani did without punishment will have a positive impact on world peace. How can we trust al-Julani and pardon him and then pursue Assad, knowing that al-Julani committed the ultimate in criminality through his membership in three terrorist organizations, while Assad’s level of criminality did not reach the level of al-Julani’s criminality? However, despite the differences between al-Julani and al-Assad, each of them deserves the harshest or maximum penalties.
We have been unable to understand the behavior of the world’s dominant powers morally, economically and militarily, such as the West, The West has never been defeated in any field by Assad or al-Julani, so as to treat them with such acceptance and forgivenes, We have great difficulty in imagining the issue of interests, and whether there are truly Western interests that force them to surrender to Assad or al-Jolani, and force the West to abandon its principled positions towards terrorism, and whether those positions have a moral background, such as tolerance related to the quality of individual morals, which are very different from political morals, and is there, in reality, any need to be lenient with al-Jolani!
There are many points in general that are still unclear to us, and we hope that the future will clarify them more, So far, it does not seem that the rehabilitation attempt will yield good results, Al-Jolani is rapidly developing towards deification, and the results of rehabilitation so far are meager, The problem with Al-Jolani is the same as with Al-Assad, Al-Jolani has not yet been able to solve any problem, but rather the problems have worsened, It seems that the principle of accountability has not lost its effectiveness and importance, The principle of legitimacy gained from the principle of tolerance and giving opportunities is crumbling, as tolerance cannot and should not assassinate human values and human rights, and crimes cannot be placed in the category of good morals, We fear that the concept of rehabilitation will contribute to the consecration of Al-Jolani’s evils, that is, as a cover for the continuation of criminal practices, as happened two days ago in the Wadi al-Nasara area, not to mention Al-Jolani’s inability to solve any fundamental problem such as the refugee problem, the reconstruction problem, or the problem of turning more than 90% of Syrians into starving people, and then the problem of Islamizing the state by placing ministries under Whether it is the supervision of sheikhs or the continuation of the approach of begging and the inability to “produce” or distracting people with fake projects such as the Damascus Metro and others, all attempts to rehabilitate the Gulani will fail, because rehabilitation requires more than what the julanism can offer, What is required is for the Gulani to turn against itself, Can julani turn against himself? We do not notice any attempt at a coup, but rather there is a dedication to deifying the julani , which will ultimately require sending him to the grave and its torment!
