The sanctification of this past and its legacies may be one of the biggest obstacles to change, Dressing the legacies in the garb of religion represents a consecration of the resistance of these legacies to change and development, especially when the view of religion is distorted, that is, when there is no distinction between the moral essence of religion, that is, the values ​​of love, tolerance, and recognition of absolute equality among all, that is, equality that transcends time and place, that is, moving away from the concept of the eternal best nation, especially when that “good” nation proves every day that it is an evil nation, whose evils have transcended time and place and have turned from relative to absolute, In general, every nation knows superiority over others at some time, but the best nation did not know any superiority at any time, Even the conquests were a decline, and the issue of inferiority has turned from relative to absolute.

The transformation of relativism into absoluteness stemmed from several factors, including the emergence of the Muslim Brotherhood ideology during a historical period not significantly influenced by modernity, This resulted in difficulty adapting to the conditions imposed by the evolving historical reality at all levels, The new historical reality imposed a new world, representing a small village swept by aspects of modernity without permission, Among the neighborhoods of this village swept by modernity was the Muslim Brotherhood quarter, which was taken aback by this “modernity” and its associated values, such as elevating the individual while reinforcing social cohesion, This social cohesion clashed with the tribal structure, which stifled individual values ​​and amplified the power of the tribal leader without regard for the society representing a “modern” tribe—that is, equality in rights and duties,The tribal system contracted and became entrenched, To defend this entrenchment, the tribal system found a way to remain in the past, closing the doors to critical thinking and liberation from the legacies of times of decline, In other words, this opened the doors to a decline characterized by violence and conflict. Invasion, war spoils, racism, coercion, and compulsion, all framed within the sanctity of obedience and submission, for which rules and regulations were established and called “covenant,” such as the Covenant of Umar, for example.

The Brotherhood reads texts of violence and jihad with the logic of the fixed, sacred past, and then they fight not primarily in defense of the verses, but rather to protect “sanctity,” regardless of the content of the verses and the relationship of this content to life, Protecting the sacred represents salvation from the misery of earthly life and guaranteeing access to paradise and virgin women, after a long period of deprivation and sexual repression on earth. The sexually repressed and pent-up person does not care about the content of the verses, because what will lead him to women is not the content but the state of commitment to sanctification, even if the content is bad, defiled, contradictory, superstitious, unscientific, or illogical.

The belief in the validity of texts for all times and places has eliminated the need for interpretation and development. Imposing jihad after sanctifying it has opened the gates of hell for terrorism, Does the validity for all times and places allow for any change regarding jihad?! It is the one that monopolizes terrorism, even sanctifies it… Whoever dies without thinking of conquest dies on a branch of hypocrisy! Is it possible to practice conquest with roses and fragrant herbs? Conquest was done with the sword and killing for the spoils of war, not in defense of truth, freedom, and justice.
