Poverty, commodity prices, cold weather, the near-nonexistent opportunities for decent work, and other disasters are not an emergency, but rather a near-permanent state. Since the departure of France, that is, since independence, the Syrian people have known nothing but constant humiliation, which has always been called an exceptional state. Relief will come tomorrow or the day after, especially after a fiery ideological sermon by an official called a minister or president, who, in two colloquial phrases, eliminated all the hardships of life. His Excellency discovered that the great Syrian people are not humiliated, but in reality, they are humiliated morning, noon, evening, and night. They eat humiliation, drink humiliation, sleep and wake up in humiliation and with humiliation, especially after the auspicious victories of the Assad regime over most of the world’s major and minor countries. The wretched people were told that whoever defeats America and NATO is not defeated by a cold wave, a loaf of bread, or a lack of fuel. The citizen lived in the warmth of faith, satiated with meals of contentment, and filled with hope through work!
Regardless of the deafening rhetoric, it must be said that the increasing hunger and poverty without a ceiling was a mathematical reality. When a person does not have the ability to finance his food and drink, he will inevitably become hungry, whether the great people defeat NATO or not. Moreover, the issue of financing is difficult and complex, as there was a huge difference between salary and income. The salary was in exchange for work in the job, for example, which did not exceed half an hour a day, according to the claim of His Excellency the former Prime Minister. Income, however, was the main factor in financing, and its main source was the rent of corruption, which provided gluttony and heating for some. According to the rules of the logic of rentier corruption, it can be said that the enrichment and gluttony of one corrupt person translates into the impoverishment and hunger of a thousand people, even tens of thousands of people! Anyone who thinks about the concerns of salary and compares it with the very necessary expenses and costs will reach the conclusion that confirms the economic impossibility of life in our beloved homeland. The individual in this homeland has become the poorest person in the world, not to mention the political, security and social impossibility of life in a society that has turned into flies and wolves.
Millions of people, children, youth and adults, have become hungry, and they could have been satisfied if it weren’t for corruption and theft, such as the theft of aid sent to them by the United Nations, i.e. practically from the West, where approximately 36 million meals were sent daily, most or even all of which were stolen and put up for sale in grocery stores.
There is no doubt about the existence of the hunger pandemic and its consequences, and the bitter cold and its complications. When the hungry see the cold in our neighborhood, in our homes, and among us, hunger is a monster that eats people alive. The cold is an animal that burns people alive. Because of this, the country has turned into a graveyard as large as it is. Poverty is blasphemy and a cemetery. The numbers and reality confirm all of this. The official state budget was $6 billion, while the budget of 150 people in the country was $275 billion. Their budgets represent their assets, with a difference of zero. Hunger, which has affected more than five-sixths of the Syrian people, is now affecting almost six-sixths of the Syrian people. It has become an epidemic that has afflicted the entire Syrian people. However, it is possible to identify within this people groups that are very different in size and characteristics. There is a group below the poverty line, a group below the extreme poverty line, a group below the abject poverty line, and a very small group above the poverty line. This is the group that sits above the legal line, such as the asaads and their relatives, in-laws, clients, hired hands, thugs, mercenaries, etc. These people have practiced looting and theft exclusively. Whoever wants to sit above the poverty line in the Republic of Fear and Hunger must sit above the legal line.
It is difficult to fabricate a virtual reality of life. Realistically and objectively, no official monthly salary was enough to cover the expenses of half a day a month. The Syrians are hungry, whether the fabricators fabricated a virtual reality that is contrary to the real, practical, objective, tangible reality or not. They are hungry, whether Al-Mayadeen channel denies it or Al-Jazeera channel confirms it. All of them… all of them… are hungry. Even corruption can no longer feed its heroes. Even the thieves went hungry, the looters went hungry, the criminals went hungry, and the shabiha went hungry. Stealing has become difficult because there is nothing left to steal. Therefore, the mercenary class has shrunk, and what remains of them is a small group, but they are voracious and vulgar, and they have always found someone who needs them and is in need of them. If it were not for the mechanism of mutual need, some of the shabiha of the recent past would not have been received with such a noticeable warmth, and there would not have been the phenomenon of “coping” which represents the ugliest forms of hypocrisy and vulgarity
